- The fees cover
the basic costs of room and board.
- The balance of
the room and board fees are due on arrival.
The latest, fees must be paid by :
October 30 for the fall semester and January 15 for the spring
semester
- Fees are shown
in US dollars. Actual payment is to be made in Indian rupees. An official
exchange certificate is necessary, as this is required by Indian law.
- When a student
has been accepted, a deposit of the equivalent of US $50 is required
and is to be paid by international postal money order (NO CHEQUES) to

This deposit reserves a place for the student ; it is nonrefundable.
US$ 40,- of this deposit is credited towards the total fee. US$ 10,-
is the reservation fee and is not credited towards the total fee.
- Reservation is
valid only, if the student specifies the date of arrival by:
October 10th (for the fall semester) and January 1st (for the spring
semester).

- The fees for room
& board cover your stay at KIBI, as well as your stay during the
semester break, and your stay of one week before the beginning of the
fall semester and one week after the end of the spring semester.
- Students may attend
the full academic year or just one semester. If attending just one semester,
students of the first year are advised to come in the fall, as it would
be difficult to begin half way through the program.
- In case students
wish to stay longer, the visitor fees are applicable.
- Double rooms: same
sex room-mates will be assigned. If you wish to share with friends,
please let us know in advance.

Additional
information :
- A refundable damage
deposit of 1000 Rupees is required.
- Students purchase
their own text-books. Three to four books, at about US $10 each are
needed.
- Students can use
the library; the refundable deposit is 300,-- Rupees.
- Overnight guests
must register at the office and must pay accomodation fees.
The fees for visitors (including 3 meals. There is no reduction if meals
are not required):
510,-- Rupees for a single room with attached bath.
410,-- Rupees for a double room with attached bath.
400,-- Rupees for a single room with common bath.
320,-- Rupees for a double room with common bath.
- Non-resident's
meal-fees:
70,-- Rupees for each lunch & dinner.
40,-- Rupees for breakfast.
RULES AND
REGULATIONS
- The Institute reserves
the right to deny admission to a student.
- Consistent class
attendance and punctuality are required.
- Students must complete
exams. The certificate for the four year program will be issued to students
who have successfully completed all the exams. The students must attend
the classes scheduled for their respective year in order to be allowed
to take an examination. No provision is made for a student to take an
examination for previous years at a time other than the scheduled exam.
- Students should
undergo a medical examination and make arrangements for medical treatment
if necessary during their stay in India. The Institute will not be responsible
for students' medical expences and liabilites.
- Students should
dress in an appropriate manner inside and outside the classroom (Please
bear in mind that monks live here too).
- Cigarettes, alcohol
and drugs are prohibited on the KIBI premises.
- No pets or animals
are permitted.
CHECKLIST FOR STUDENTS
- The following vaccinations
are advised before coming to India: Tetanus, Polio, Hepatitis, and Influenza.
- The following medical
supplies are recommended: Homeopathic & natural remedies, antibiotics,
aspirin, allergy medicines (if necessary), malaria prophylaxis, ointments
and creams for infections, bandages, stomach and intestinal medications,
colds and influenza medications.
- Medical insurance
for travellers is recommended. The Institute will not be responsible
for medical costs incurred while at KIBI.
- Bring a supply
of your own personal toiletries initially. Local stores are easily accessible
and have a great variety of articles.
- Temperatures range
from 0o C at night in December and January to 25 degrees in February
and March. The days are usually sunny. Students are advised to bring
light clothing as well as jackets, sweaters and long underwear. (KIBI
provides sheets and one blanket for each student).
- In addition to
casual wear, a set of formal clothing for attending official functions
is suggested.
- You may wish to
bring your own study aids such as notebooks, tape recorders etc. Stationery
is available here but may not be of the quality that you are used to.
- There is hot water
and electricity. The voltage is 220V, but due to irregularities it may
go as high as 280 volts. Therefore, a stabilizer is necessary for computers,
etc. These can be bought locally.

HOW
TO GET TO KIBI
Tell the taxi driver, "Qutab Hotel - backside." The
ride with the Pre-Paid Taxi from the airport should cost around 180 Rps.
